Tom Boonen almost first time in Amstel Gold Race

Tom Boonen, who so far has 104 professional victories, intended to ride the Amstel Gold Race for the first time.

"I’m certainly looking forward to the Dutch classic, but I have to take into account a lot of fresh riders. Many guys have little racing in their legs so far this season while I already have quite a lot of kilometers," Boonen explained at a press conference Wednesday, April 4th." However, his Omega Pharma - Quick-Step team announced yesterday that Boonen won't take part in the Amstel Gold Race next Sunday. What a pity!!!
